The Brood by Devney Perry is now live!
A small town, forced proximity, age gap romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Devney Perry.
The last thing Wilder Abbott needs is a houseguest. Solitude has been his stoic companion for nearly a decade. He prefers to brood over his mistakes in seclusion. Besides, he gets enough social interaction as a high school science teacher in Calamity, Montana.
But when his oldest friend calls, begging for a favor, Wilder begrudgingly agrees. For the next two months, he’ll give up his guest room to his friend’s little sister.
Iris Monroe isn’t the girl Wilder remembers. Gone is the shy, quiet mouse ten years his junior who always had her nose in a book. Grown-up Iris talks too much and asks too many questions, especially about his past. And her bright smile and clear blue eyes are hard to ignore.
Two months. He just has to survive two months. Except Iris is as nosy as she is beautiful. And his secrets prove hard to hide when she’s living under his roof.

REVIEW: Adorable! This one got a little bit of everything – grumpy hero – sunshine heroine, age gap, hero best-friend’s sister, forbidden, force proximity. Wilder moved to Calamity to start a new life after his wife died. He preferred to live in seclusion. The only interaction he gets these days are from his students. Iris is a free-spirit who does not stay in one place more than a couple of months. Iris heard from her brother how beautiful Calamity is so she decided that would be her next destination. Wilder owed Iris’s brother a favor, and he is cashing in by asking Wilder to let Iris stays in his spare room for 2 months. Wilder had no choice and reluctantly agreed. What Wilder did not expect was to see Iris all grown up, changed into her own person, wild, free-spirited, and full of questions. Iris came into Wilder’s life like a wrecking ball and turned his life up-side-down. I would say this is a bit of opposite attract too because they are so much different from each other, personality wise. I like Wilder despite some of his flaws. I have a little harder time connect with Iris. Somehow, I imagine her to be the younger nerdy sister turned into a beautiful swan LOL J but that is just me though. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all J I do love her quirkiness and inquisitive personality. She really helped Wilder breaks out of his shell. I like the message from this story – not to judge the book by its cover e.g. Iris’s career choice, adventurous lifestyle, or her appearance. Overall, just a tiny bit of drama but mostly a feelgood story, fun, good banters and heartwarming.
