This is a story about Milo and Colton. Milo and Colton grow up together and Milo is Colton’s best friend’s sister…so clearly she is off limits. They both share what they think is unrequited love, but really they are both in love with each other. After years of trying to distance herself from Colton, Milo has to come home for her brother’s wedding and face Colton. With just one weekend, craziness ensues as Milo gets her best friend, Max, to pretend to be her boyfriend and they all plot to stop her brother, Jason, from marrying a witch.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I started this book thinking it was going to be typical friends to lover plot (my favorite). Well…what I got was a rom com and I’m so happy. I think it is incredibly hard to write a good romantic comedy. I’ve read some reviews about how the comedy in this book is over the top and more of a slapstick type of comedy; there may be some truth to that, but it had me laughing out loud so who cares.
First, I always enjoy dual POV and this book alternates POV. I thought both Milo and Colton were so cute and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed how Colton used to slay dragons for her. He did the most perfect wedding for her…swoon. I can’t believe how dumb Colton was for pushing Milo away for so many years all to find out Jason was waiting for his dumbass to make a move on his sister. It made me really like Jason for some reason. The supporting cast: Max, Jason, Reid, and grandma were all hilarious. I think the situation with Reid and grandma may have been a bit over the top for comedy. Also, for some reason, I was very drawn towards Jason and I want him to get his own book. Max was such a huge character and made me laugh several times. I know the next book is about Max so I’ll be reading that. Happy reading=)
