Roots and Wings by M. Mabie (a review)

Roots and Wings (City Limits # 1) by M. Mabie ~ 4.5 Stars

“Welcome to Wynne, population 3,401.

No billionaires. No professional athletes. No celebrities.

In this small town, current events are pondered in mirrors at the local salon or around crowded tables at the diner, and there’s a new couple to gossip about. A rough and tumble woman who works in her dad’s garage, not yet ready to spread her wings, shows the new guy in town what it’s like to finally have roots.

It’s your run-of-the-mill, sexy, Astro van driving dentist meets smart-ass, bass fishing tomboy in a story of real-life romance.

Low on drama. High on love.

Pull up a chair and stay a while.”

NOW, this is the sweetest book I’ve read in a while. What a perfect read for a relaxing Saturday – woke up early and devoured this baby in one sitting.

Mutt is a small town girl, grew up and lived in Wynne all her life. Mutt is sassy, tomboyish, and loves to fish and enjoy the outdoors. She works at her dad’s car garage surrounded by men. But besides her outside tomboy persona, she is sweet, caring, and beautiful inside and out.

Vaughn is an expert with mouth porn Okay get your mind our of the gutter!!!! Vaughn is a sexy dentist who just moved into town. He is smart and funny. His heart is a little bruised from a recent breakup. Vaughn wanted to plant roots and have a family of his own but apparently his ex-partner had other ideas. The two met when Vaughn just arrived to town and was having a very rough day. Mutt swooped in to the rescue and even shared her sandwich with him – that was really sweet. Mutt and Vaughn were attracted and intrigued about each other because they are different people. There was not insta-love or lust with their relationship which I found very refreshing. They were friends first, dating and love came after. I like that the plot takes place in a small town and I really enjoy the people in it. Reminds me a little bit of a time I spent in Kentucky. Everyone is helpful and nice. This story is about real life and people going about their everyday business – very light-hearted and low drama.

I think the author did a great job turning a simple plot – small town girl meets city boy into a delightful love story full of funny banters and heart-warming romance. The love story makes sense, the characters are heartfelt and real. This book is about taking chances and doing something unexpected and different from what you are familiar with. Mutt is comfortable hiding in her father’s shop – can she grow wings and fly? How about Vaughn – a city boy? Can he plant roots and settle in a small town? Their love story is truly beautiful, sweet, and heart-warming. I am in love with this book – made my heart all warm and fuzzy after I finished. This is the first book I read of M. Mabie – I just loved it. Awesome writing full of love, laughs, witty banters, and amazing characters. I cannot wait to read more of M. Mabie’s books in the future.  Highly recommended guys!!!!
