Stepbrother Dearest ~ 4.5 Stars

I said this before I am a total sucker for forbidden romance and this book did it for me. There are two parts to this book. The first part – Elec and Greta were both 17. Right before the last year of high school Elec was shipped to live with his dad so that his mom could take a work assignment overseas for a year (presumably). That is where he met Greta, his stepsister, for the first time. Elec has a bad attitude… disrespectful to his father/ stepmother and taunts Greta every chance he gets. I would go as far as to say he has an anger issue. That did not intimidate Greta though – she continues to kill him with her kindness. Greta begins to break down his walls slowly but before Greta and Elec develop any sort of relationship he goes back to California.

Seven years later, Elec is forced to come back to his father’s funeral. Greta is less than enthused to see her brother dearest again and to make matters worse he brought a-plus-one. Both Elec and Greta seemed to have moved on but have they? So many unanswered questions between them. Can they finally find closure?

I love the storyline, the forbidden romance. The chemistry is sizzling between them. Great banters. There are plenty of cute and fun moments at the beginning and then angsts in the second part of the book. Elec comes off an a**hole but he is quite misunderstood. And boy, what a twist that was – Elec’s totally f**ked up past and what he had been through made me sad.
I love that we got to see a little bit of what is inside Elec’s head through his biography although I skimmed a little bit as some parts were repeated. Other than that, Stepbrother Dearest was a fantastic read for me.
