My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!!!

I’m in a happy place right now. This book is so perfect! It is a deeper novel than I was expecting. I was expecting a hot and sexy love story. Did I get that? Absolutely! But I also got a much deeper story about the raw reality of life and love. Vi Keeland knows how to write a story that resonates with all of us. It a story that isn’t pure fantasy, but one that could be anybody’s story. It deals with the hardships of parenting and real relationship problems. I don’t want to mislead you because while there are some great themes, Vi Keeland also mixes in a lot of witty humor and some smoking hot scenes. Just my style!

I knew I liked Emerie the moment I found out she eats too much and unbuttons her pants. Lol…yes..I do that too. I found kinship right there. She’s a wonderful main character. There’s nothing to not like; she’s just one of the girls. Emerie is an idealist and while I am more like Drew, a realist, I found her advice and positivity refreshing to read. It’s nice to be reminded to look on the bright side and have a little hope.

Then there is Drew. Drew is awesome! He and his big ego crack me up.

“Damn straight. I’m like a superhero. The prolactinator.”

The best part about Drew is watching his touch exterior melt away when it comes to Emerie and his son. There’s nothing I love more to read about than a tough guy showing his heart. He has a lot of issues with trust and I can see why. The family baggage he comes with is a lot to deal with, but I have so much respect for him when I see how much he loves his son. It is very heartwarming. It is wonderful to see Emerie and Drew learn to work as a team to become a family.

“People don’t leave when they love someone. They stick around forever.”

So this book is a must read! It has a wonderful love story that touches on the hardships of relationships and parenting. It is a beautiful story that will uplift you and make you feel like there is nothing too big to overcome when you have the right people by your side.

“You better watch it, Jagger. You’re losing your sour and turning sweet on me.”
“I’ve been sweet on you since the first night you attempted to kick my ass.”
