Review: From the Ground Up by Jennifer Van Wyk

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So after reading the blurb I was very interested because I realized this situation probably happened to us at some point in life. You were young and in love, you got married, had kids, life goes on, and Bam! before you know it you can’t remember the last time you went on a date alone with you husband. There is definitely an element of realism in this story that hit close to home. I was intrigued by the storyline and I am glad I had a chance to read this. I have to say this book is honest and quite refreshing because I felt like I can relate to the characters and their story. Tess and Barret were together since teens. They were in love, married with four kids and 2 careers later the magic is gone. They never fell out of love so how do they find a spark and fall in love with each other again. I think that like many of us – sometimes we just got wrap up in the busy life and lose sight of what is important so we all need to take a step back, find the time to really be with one another and renew the love and commitment. The story is sweet and sexy, with low drama. The characters are endearing – I can totally relate to them. I believe this is the author debut novel which I thought was impressive. Fast easy read with an inspirational plot! I am looking forward to her next book.
