Review: Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward! <3

My rating: 5 stars!!

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are quite the duo. Together, they make some magic happen. This is such a fun loving story with so much heart.

Meet Dex Truitt…otherwise known as Mister Moneybags according to Bianca George. Only Dex isn’t really the rich bastard she thinks he is. So how does he get Bianca to change her mind? Easy…he pretends to be Jay, a bike messenger. So starts a journey of white lies, love, and laughter. However, when the truth comes out, forgiveness isn’t the only obstacle in their way. Their love is tangled in family drama like no other. Oh what a great ride it is!

Dex is one of the best characters because even though he’s rich, he doesn’t act it at all. The Jay character he plays isn’t all an act. Dex is a regular guy who wants regular things. He isn’t a notorious playboy or an asshole. He’s just a nice guy who is trying really hard to impress a girl. It’s that simple and I love it. His lies were absolutely ridiculous and I was giggling throughout the book. I love how he starts getting jealous of himself. Playing Jay was getting a bit out of control, but it is all in the name of love. I can’t fault the guy for lying because his love for Bianca is pure and it’s evident in everything he does.

Bianca is also noteworthy. She is one of those perfectly balanced characters. She’s beautiful, but it doesn’t go to her head. She honest, smart, kind, and I love how she calls other people out on their shitty behavior. The park scene where she displays how shallow and rude people can be is her defining moment where I decided she’s one of the coolest characters I have read. I’m glad she doesn’t create too much drama and learns to forgive Dex for all this trickery.

“I was just so damn lucky to have this beautiful family.”

The story is a little more than just Dex and Bianca. There’s quite of bit of family drama and I really enjoy reading a story that shows all the interesting and complicated dynamics of a relationship. It gives the story more depth. There are some definite twists that come up. (No Spoilers!!) It shows just how devoted Dex is to Bianca.

Overall, this is another stellar novel by two of my favorite authors. It’s a must read for anybody in need of a great romance and laughter along the way.

“Did you get the girl in the end, Mr. Truitt?”
I winked. “I did.”

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a new novelette.
The first time I met Jade Jameson, I lost my words and accidentally dropped a beer bottle, smashing it to the ground.
The Broadway star sister of my brother’s wife had paid us a surprise visit on Christmas. Quite simply, she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen; I was mesmerized.
I’d made a fool of myself, though, and to make matters worse, my girlfriend was standing right there when it all happened.
Jade went back to New York, and we didn’t cross paths again for a year—until one night when a Facebook notification lit up my screen, setting off a chain of events that would change my life forever.
***This is a bonus standalone story of 16,000 words…figure about 1-2 hours reading time…and it’s available for *newsletter subscribers* to download ABSOLUTELY FREE at the end of Mister Moneybags, releasing Monday April 10th. (Possibly Sunday!)
There is no Amazon e-book preorder (It will just go live, so look for an alert from me!)
