OH wow! I went in this story blind thinking it would be another light-hearted sexy romantic comedy but I was so wrong. This book is completely different from what the author written in the past and it is heartbreakingly beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, this story is still funny, sexy, romantic but it is also inspirational, emotional, and heartfelt. Unbreak My Heart is a story of love, loss, grief, healing and second chances. 

Andrew lost his parents in a tragic accident and recently loss his close brother to illness. He was mourning and trying his best to keep one foot in front of another without falling apart every time something is reminding of his beloved family. When Andrew received a letter from his brother’s girlfriend in Japan, there were some details he did not quite understand. Andrew decided to set out to find the truths and secrets of his brother’s last days on earth. 

Holland and Andrew were childhood friends who spent one sizzling summer and fell in love but it was short lived. At the end of that summer, Andrew and Holland went separate ways. Andrew attended law school and Holland moved to Japan for nursing school. Three years later, Holland moved back home to take care of Andrew’s dying brother. She always had plan to move back to Japan to work. So, when Andrew asked Holland to accompany him on this trip, Holland did not hesitate. Andrew and Holland had been in love with each other since that summer and it never stopped despite the years apart. Andrew is broken and has demons to overcome. Holland is strong, patience, caring and kind. She understood Andrew needs to find peace with himself before he can have room in his heart to love someone again. What glue did they find about Andrew’s brother? Will the time they spend together be enough to mend their broken hearts?

This is an incredibly gorgeous love story but I feel the emphasize is more about Andrew and his struggles, grief, heartache and his journey to heal, hope, and find peace in his life. The author really broke my heart and unbreak it again in the end. I laughed, cried, swoons, and completely consumed until the last page. I really admire the strength in the heroine. I love the broken hero and how he grew, found his purpose, and become a better man. I love Andrew and Holland romance…how they lean on each other through hard times. Holland put their friendship first and foremost to help Andrew. She put on a good front but she too is longing for his love. Stalk up on tissues, this is quite an emotional ride. I live my life with this motto – be thankful for what you have and live each and every day without regrets. I think the author approves Lauren Blakely is amazing – Highly recommended!!!!
