Zach was a bully, together with his little gangs they tormented Cleo for years. Sometime during their high school year, Zach disappeared. Rumors has it he went off to Princeton … but did he? Cleo never thought she would ever see him again. She now lives and work at the estate own by Zach family. She needs to save money to buy back her childhood home. Cleo can’t afford any distractions, least of all from the boy she despises. Except three years has passed and Zach is no longer a boy – he is all grown up, brooding, tattooed, sexy alpha. Friend or foe, Cleo didn’t stand a chance.
There is quite a bit going with this book – bullying, abuse, dyslexia, self-loathing, social status. At one point I wasn’t sure where the story was going but I guess the events are all tie together. I like the enemy-to-lover romance (one of my favorite) – a bit unsure with the modern day live-in maid where Zach thinks he owns Cleo (it’s the alpha effect I presume :)) but romantic and beautiful. I adore Zach and the way he stands up for what he believes is right. Sorry, couldn’t get into the blue hair thing … but love Cleo – strong, smart, caring, hard worker, a spitfire who has a huge heart. I like the forbidden romance bit as well. I love that this story teaches us about mistakes, compassion, forgiveness and redemption. A bit emotional at time, agnsty, some drama. Over all, well-written entertaining read.
