Holy Moly! I can finally breathe now. This book is angst galore!!!
The story is about the girl from the wrong side of the track and a rich boy/second chance romance. Raven and Gavin met when Gavin came from school for the summer before he moves to Oxford for law school. Raven and her mother works for Gavin’s parents looking after their mansion. They immediately attracted to each other. Raven is so much different from all the rich girls who shamelessly throwing themselves at him. Gavin and Raven connected at a deeper level. They were inseparable that summer but an unfortunately event happened and they were separated for a decade. Can they find their way back to each other despite the time apart?
I adore Gavin – even though he came from a wealthy family he is very down to earth, sweet, kind, not to mention smart and successful. I like the younger version Raven. She wasn’t dealt with the best cards in life. She innocent, fun, sassy, and isn’t afraid of sparing with Gavin. The became friends that summer but their friendship quickly escalate to more despite the protest from Gavin’s evil mother. Ughh! I really hate the woman. Gavin was adamant to fight for Raven though. He is willing to make their love work despite all the obstacles. Just when Gavin was ready to go back to school Raven broke it off without much of an explanation – not one Gavin understood anyways. Gavin was angry, broken hearted but he had to move on. Ten years later, Gavin expectantly came home to visit his ailing father and to his surprise Raven was at his father’s side. All the anger and resentment came rushing back but Gavin has to put it aside because his father desperately needs her. I enjoy the angst and the slow burn romance between Gavin and Raven. I like the plotline and a little bit of family drama. For the most part, I like that the story focuses on their romance. I did not like the part where Raven accidently kissed Gavin knowing he was engaged. I also would have like Gavin coming to term with his own feelings before Raven’s confession. I cannot help but feel bad for the fiancé – she didn’t do anything wrong and seem to be a good person. I love the older version of Gavin’s brother Weldon – I would love a story on him. Over all, what an enjoyable read – emotional, deliciously sexy, slow burn, heart-felt. Good chemistry, awesome banters, fantastic storytelling as usual.
