WHOA! This was something!  Aly M. never disappoints with her ability to tell a story that will immediately capture your attention from the start.  Eason and Bree are both married to each other’s best-friend.  Eason is a singer/songwriter  and struggles to make ends meet to support his wife and his young daughter.   Bree is married to Rob, who runs their family company.  The foursome all see each other often, but sadly that was necessary to deflect what was really going on in their marriage.  Bree didn’t think highly of Eason – what she knew of him was what her best-friend told her.  One fateful night, tragedy strikes the two couples – Bree and Eason were the only survivors from a house fire.  Eason is now a single dad with no place to call home.  Bree is also left a single mother.  Bree invited Eason to move into her guest house until he could get back on his feet.  Bree and Eason grew closer together sharing the same guilt and grief.  They formed an unlikely team, friendship, and eventually more.  Buckle up though, it’s always a rough ride with Aly Martinez’s book J.  Nothing is what it seems – truths, lies, deceits, twists and turns, drama and plot twists J.  I really adore Eason – through it all he was always fun, caring, supportive – nothing like what his deceased wife painted him to be.  Bree is a bit of a bada** – a stay home mom turned CEO extraordinaire. She is strong and stubborn.  They complement each other nicely.  Amazing chemistry – slow burn romance (quite fitting given their situation).  I also love the kiddos – super cute and definitely put a smile on my face <3. From the Embers was such a beautiful, heartwarming and emotional story of love, loss, heartbreak, healing, hope and finding happiness again with the person you least expected.  Very unique and very well-written!
