Talia and Foster met in college. They were in love and had planned a future together but right before Talia moved away for medical school Foster broke her heart. He married her best friend. Talia left town and never looked back. Seven years later, Foster showed up at Talia hometown of Quincy. Newly divorcee, he reached out to Talia and had the nerve to give her the engagement ring that she picked out many moons ago in hope of winning her back. FAT CHANCE, right? Talia is pissed to say the least. She is no fool and isn’t about to fall for Foster’s charms again. WHOA! Talks about slow burn, angst and a whole lot of shovels. I love Foster and Talia relationship – they are very honest about their feelings and situations. They both don’t play games. Foster knows exactly who he wants in his future and is not afraid to let it be known. Talia, too is not about to hide how much Foster had hurt her in the past. I like that their relationship slowly builds up to something more meaningful and beautiful – it makes sense because there were a lot of trust and commitment issues. Talia is such a great character – she is kind hearted, hardworking, caring and she has the ability to forgive and open her heart to love again. When I read the blurb I was nervous for the hero – not such a stellar guy, but turns out he is a good guy at heart. Foster grew up a hard life, nothing is handed to him for free. Foster has a chip on his shoulder and he has a displaced sense that he has to provide the world for Talia but in fact all she wanted was just Foster, however he came. I adore the whole Edens clan – how they have fights but they always love each other hard. I could do away with all the drama with Vivi and her father but I guess that was the big part of Foster’s journey and how he became the man he is now. I love me a second chance romance especially one where the hero made a huge mistake and had to grovel his way back … talk about slow burn, angsts, and all the feels!!! It was all worth it at the end. There is a nice bonus epilogue if you singed up for newsletter at the end. Super cute. And OMG! We got a glimpse of Eloise and Jasper’s story – sounds like shotgun wedding and fake marriage. Cannot wait for Jasper Vale coming Feb, 2023 🙂Meet Devney
