OMG! This is another EPIC one! As mentioned before, I actually don’t read paranormal romance but Emma Scott got me hook, line, and sinker now. ES can practically write anything and I’d gobble it up in one sitting. The Muse is the second book of the Angels and Demons series and can be read as standalone, but I highly recommend you read The Sinner first. It’s so freaking good for one. Plus you will have a nice back story because the Muse revisited some of the previous characters (Cas and Lucy). The Muse is about Cole (Lucy’s human best friend) and Ambri, the demon. Oh man! The story started out with Ambri’s previous human life and how he ended up in the underworld. It was seriously a heart wrenching sad story that brought tear to my eyes. Ambri did not deserve what happened to him. Then, Cole was introduced and his story is just as heartbreaking. Cole is a struggling artist who is hopeless, full of self-doubt, and is on a brink of despair. Cole is falling into the darkness. He is ready to give up on life (the bridge scene might be a trigger). One night, Ambri came in Cole’s dream / reality (ah well … Cole also came 😊 lol…) and Cole’s life is forever changed. Cole sort of made a deal with the devil. Ambri became the muse that show case Cole’s talent. Cole is finally making money, flying high, traveling the world but all this came with a price. Will Cole give it all up for love? Ambri was supposed to carry out a task before getting back to the underworld or he will suffer greatly. What happens when Ambri falls in love with the very person he supposed to destroy? Someone has to sacrifice for the other to be free. Can true conquers all? The ending was pretty CLEVER – past and present intertwined. Just perfect! Emma Scott’s talent for storytelling is truly magical. I don’t think this author does anything half-a** in life. Every books come out is a treasure. Yes they are romance and HEA but each stories bring something unique and with a meaningful message behind it. Flawless writing as always. I think this is why to me ES’s stories are truly unforgettable. Prepare to shred tears with this one. LOVE WINS!
