4.5 stars!!

Gahhh…I need the next book. I knew I shouldn’t have started this booking knowing it is part 1 of 2 books, but I told myself I was just going to read the sample and go from there. Well, I definitely got sucked in. This book is one big mind game and I’m dying to know if my theories are right. I have to admit that I am one of those terrible readers who has to know the spoilers and if there will be a happy ending before I start a book. I went into this book blind not having any answers and it is driving me crazy!! There are so many questions running through my head…why did Gabrielle and Paxton have such a weird relationship? What is Paxton’s story? What is going on with the twins? As you can tell, there aren’t any answers from book 1. I think I guessed some things correctly, but who knows if things are really as they seem as nothing is clear in book 1.

This book has some S/M going on and generally I’m not a fan of that kind of sex, but I kind of liked it in this book. It was pretty erotic. Best of all, the story isn’t really about sex and I like that there is a real story line. Paxton is an enigma. I was completely blown away by my reaction to him. He is the mother of all jerks and yet there is a strange pull towards him. I see glimpses of his soft side and I crave that he will learn to love Gabrielle. I hated Paxton, yet really loved him. I really liked Gabrielle. Her thought process is very realistic and she seems to be a strong and relatable character. I loved their daughters…they are too cute. There are some things that Gabrielle may have done in her past that I’m usually very against, but strangely I forgive her. The flashbacks between Gabrielle, Izzy, and her mom broke my heart. This book had me conflicted in many ways. There are themes that I usually shy away from and yet it worked for me in this book. I’m anxiously awaiting book 2 and I really hope it doesn’t disappoint.
