“The flame never dies . . .

Millie Cross knows what it’s like to burn for someone. She was young and wild and he was fierce and even wilder-a Chaos biker who made her heart pound. They fell in love at first sight and life was good, until she learned she couldn’t be the woman he needed and made it so he had no choice but to walk away. Twenty years later, Millie’s chance run-in with her old flame sparks a desire she just can’t ignore. And this time, she won’t let him ride off . . .

Bad boy Logan “High” Judd has seen his share of troubles with the law. Yet it was a beautiful woman who broke him. After ending a loveless marriage, High is shocked when his true love walks back into his life. Millie is still gorgeous, but she’s just a ghost of her former self. High’s intrigued at the change, but her betrayal cut him deep-and he doesn’t want to get burned again. As High sinks into meting out vengeance for Millie’s betrayal, he’ll break all over again when he realizes just how Millie walked through fire for her man . . .”

I have this book for a while and I am glad I finally read it. This is a second chance romance – bad boy biker and a good girl. The book is told in several first person point of view so it took me a little while to get used to keeping track of who was talking. Mille and Logan met when they were 18 years old and it was love at first sight – they were soul mates for about 3 years. But suddenly Millie broke Logan’s heart when she up and left without giving a good explanation. Logan had no choice but to move on – married and has 2 girls. Millie became a successful business woman. They crossed path 20 years later, Logan is now recently divorced. Millie thought this is a perfect opportunity for her to make peace and give Logan the closure that he deserves but nothing went as planned. Logan was having none of it – he is angry at the site of Millie and he was out for revenge. However, true love never dies and Logan realized something does not add up about Millie. So, Logan was determined to find our what really happened between them and why Millie is so different from the person he fell in love with long ago.

What I like about about book – the first half was heart racing and full of angst. The way they met again, the way Logan treats Millie, how the biker family rejected her – it was totally heart wrenching. My mind was going crazy – what Millie could have done that was so bad every one was so cruel to her now. The characters – Logan is rough around the edges, dominant, sexy but also sensitive, and loving. Millie is smart, successful, sweet, and classy. They two of them together? Like adding oil to fire – the chemistry is off the chart. Neither of them know how to quit the other. I really enjoyed that emotional journey of finding the truth, forgiving and winning each other hearts back. I thought they author did a good job at keeping me guessing the secret of why Millie broke Logan – I was surprised by that!

The second part of the book seems less interesting to me but I think it is because Millie and Logan already got back together – it kind of like the story built up with all of the mystery, the suspense, the angst, the heart pounding encounters, and the revenge sex …. the story climaxed in the middle and then I was just too relaxed at the end. It does bother me a little bit that Millie did not have any boyfriend for 20 years – that’s is long time to not love someone else (not impossible though). She is also a bit too forgiving of the way she was treated by everyone including Logan. I did not like the way Logan spoke to Millie – I understand he was angry and I understand his reasons. Still, I am not so sure I could be that tolerant. But the book isn’t about me so… LOL

Over all it was a great read. It took me a bit to get used to the biker talks and the slangs but this book has a good plot. Well-written. It got sweet, sexy, angst, feels, and of course love. I am a total sucker for second romance so no complaint here.

Thank you Net Galley and Publishers for this copy in exchange for an honest review.
