Ahhh….I just love this series. This is the 3rd book in the off-campus series. This series follows Briar University’s hockey players. Each book is stand-alone, but everyone should read The Deal (Book 1) and The Mistake (Book 2) because they are so good.
The Score is Dean and Allie’s story. Dean is the ultimate playboy. He’s totally disgusting, but hilarious and lovable at the same time. He’s the smart guy that likes to play dumb; the guy who does threesomes and takes dick pics…lol. Knowing all of this, of course I was excited to read his story!! Dean falls for Allie, who is best friends with his teammate’s girlfriend. Allie ends up sleeping with Dean after a bad break up. Their relationship starts out as a drunken mistake, but their sexual chemistry is off the charts and Dean can’t get enough of Allie. He eventually breaks Allie down into starting a no-strings attached affair. As they spend more time together, the heart gets involved and they fall for each other.
Okay…this book had me giggling like a school girl. It is so cute and funny. There is a scene where Dean and Beau talk about how he might have imprinted on Allie’s pussy; it had me laughing so hard…
“I think you have imprinted on this girl’s pussy.”
“You exist solely for this pussy. Like Jacob and that weird mutant baby.”
“This is what Allie has reduced me to. A sad, pathetic loser who goes to a bar and forces his friends to participate in a Twilight book club.”
LMAO…I’m laughing right now as I write this. I just love Dean. He pretends to be just a pretty boy who only wants sex, but there is more to him than meets the eye. He is sexy, smart, he loves his friends dearly, and he loves teaching children…swoon. And of course, he makes me laugh. I like that there was more depth to his character. He makes this book so good.
While I loved Dean, I, unfortunately, had some issues with Allie’s character. I can’t put my finger on it, but there was something about her character that irritated me. I’m not sure if it was her need to always be in a relationship or her behavior after her break up with Sean, but I found her a bit needy and indecisive; I just thought she was a weak main character. Compared to Hannah and Grace who were strong and feisty, Allie fell flat for me.
So, I’m trying hard to not give any spoilers, but I have to mention how much I liked Beau. It broke my heart to see what Elle Kennedy did. I was hoping for a spin off so we could get Beau’s story. I don’t know why Elle had to do this. I know Dean needed to struggle a little bit to grow, but I didn’t want it this way. I’m still sad = (. Although there is some sadness in this book, the overall feel of The Score is light. It’s an easy read and there is a good ending. Oh boy…the ending sure leaves a lot to be continued. Let’s just say I can’t wait to read Tucker’s story. =) I’m definitely hooked on this series.
