The Fractured Heart by Scarlett Cole ~ 4 Stars

This is the second book of the Second Circle Tattoos. This book follows Brody and Drea. Brody and his 2 brothers were abandoned as children by their mother. On top of the mommy issue, Brody also has a secret in his past that he does not think any woman would want him. So, Brody swears off all women and vow to keep his life simple. He put in his energy to work – he owns a car business with his brother as well as working as a tattoos artist. That all change when he was recruited to help plan an engagement party for his best friend Trent. Brody is forced to work with Drea who he thought as a perfect definition of high maintenance.

Drea’s life is complicated. She is tired from taking care of her sick overbearing mother. She is stubborn and independent – Drea is working multiple jobs and still broke, the bills won’t stop coming. The last thing she needs is to deal with Brody who she seems to can’t see eye to eye with anything. But the more time they spend together planning the party the closer they become.

There are several plots going on at the same time. This book is a romance but also with a touch of mystery which make the story interesting. Drea witnessed a kidnap of a woman and because she is stubborn, she is determined to find out the truth even if that put her in harm way. Then there is Brody’s mother who disappeared for years but she came back all the sudden with amnesia problem. In between all that they still have a party to plan. Drea has to deal with her mother passing and Brody has to come to term with his mother abandonment and find peace and forgiveness. With all the chaos Drea and Brody found comfort in each other. The chemistry between Drea and Brody is scorching hot and… then of course they fell in love. But with everything happen so fast Drea is not quite sure if she wants to depend on Brody with all her issues. Brody however is determined to prove to Drea that he’s someone she can count on forever. So is this a case of opposite attract? And when truth come to light, can their love survived?

L’amore che move il sole a l’altre stelle – The love that moves the sun and stars.

I enjoyed reading Fractured Heart – it got sexy romance, mystery, funny banters, and friendship. This was a quick, light, and entertaining read. I can’t wait to read third installment The Purest Hook which follow Pixie and Dred.
