My rating: 4.5 STARS

Whoa! This was one hot tamale novella you don’t want to miss. Sweet Surrender is a fun, sexy, lighthearted, hot guy, feisty girl story with a high dose of action / adventure which made for a very enjoyable read.

Grant is a bad boy, retired cop. For 25 years, Grant’s life and his job was full of adrenaline, action, keeping the bad boys where they belong. Now that Grant is forced to retire, he is at a loss as to what to do next so he accepts the invitation from his friend Cooper to stay at his home town for a short while. Liza has not been back at Surrender for over a decade but after her aunt dies, she has no choice but to make her way back. She needs to take care of her aunt’s bakery and estate. Liza’s plan is to get out of dodge as soon as possible. The last thing she expected was to get hit with a tray of donuts and end up in Grant’s bed (LOL pretty hilarious).
I really adore both of these characters. Liza is feisty with no brain-to-mouth filter. She is a free spirit with a wild streak, and is not afraid of taking risks and having a little fun – that includes men. Grant is brooding, sexy, and all alpha. Liza is practically a stranger but when her life is in danger Grant is all about playing the protective hero. I think deep down he has a sweet side. Opposites attract with these two and the chemistry ignites. Can they stay away from each other or will they realize that they are meant to be?

Sweet surrender is sexy, fun, good paced, and packed with action and a hefty dose of sexy time. This is a new author for me and I am intrigued by her writing and story. I will be sure to look into the MacKenzie series.
