Fallen Heir (The Royals # 4) by Erin Watt ~ 4.5 Stars
“Sometimes boring is good. It’s in the quiet you hear the heart beat.”
Well, this is just so freaking CRUEL!!!! WHERE IS BOOK TWO???
The first time I was introduced to Erin Watt, I was hooked right away. I read the first three Royals in one sitting (over a few days) … I mean this series is utterly addictive. I have been anticipating Fallen Heir for a long while and of course Erin Watt BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN AGAIN!
This one is on Easton and Hartley. Easton, the playboy extraordinaire meets Hartley, the “new on campus” mysterious girl who doesn’t give two shits who Easton Royal is. As far as Hartley knows, she needs to keep on walking if she ever comes in contact with him. Hartley is too busy; too focused on school — she does not have any time for the rich playboy who is only interested in f*ck*ng, drinking, and fighting … Nope! Not touching that with a ten-foot-pole, especially since her first encounter with him, Easton was caught in a compromised position J. Not the first impression you want to make, right?! But really, is there more to this filthy rich bad boy than meets the eye? Let’s see, Easton is smart, fun, loves to fly, loves his brothers and his soon to be sister-in-law Ella. He is sweet on Hartley and caring for her more than just another bed pole … well, surprisingly Easton is growing on me. Yup! I said it.
I really like Hartley – she is funny, sassy, driven. Hartley has no problem challenging Easton and that’s one of the reason Easton is attracted to Hartley. She is bold at and wears her heart on her sleeve. Easton is definitely not used to anyone saying no to him so he was intrigued, as I am. Hartley’s life is complicated. She was kicked out of her parents’ house. She is scraping by working part-time and going to school. I feel bad Hartley was left to fend for herself at such a young age. The catty rich b*tches at school are jealous and mean but I have a feeling Hartley will be taking cared of as long as Easton is around. Easton is naughty and flawed, but he has a charming gentle side!!!
True to the young adult genre, the storyline is packed with teenage drama, angst, layers of secrets, lies, and deception. It’s totally insane but addicting. There are so many unanswered questions at the end of the book. I feel like this is only the beginning – Hartley and Easton are far from a HEA. So, far there is no intense or sizzling romance yet but a high dose of flirting and light touches. It’s innocent and just right for this first book. Easton still got a long way to go in the “growing up” department and Hartley has to learn to trust. Their relationship will take time to grow and I have a feeling we will see more in the next book. The ending is a huge cliff-hanger. AHHHH!!! I can’t wait for the finale of Easton and Hartley!
“Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.”
