Beautiful Rugged – Sara Zook – 4 Stars
Evanna is a journalist student who is finishing up school when her boyfriend Jake gets a job back home in Pennsylvania. Even though the two never said “I love you,” Evanna thinks that they have a future and decides to leave New Jersey and move in with Jake. In New Jersey (his hometown) she gets a job at the local library. However, their relationship fizzles fast as Jake likes to constantly hang out with his single friends. Evanna grows bored and lonely. One day she meets Gideon who is Amish. The two become friends at first but eventually start to have feelings for one another. These two are totally different – he is reserved and she is “worldly”. This love story is a case of opposites attract. To complicate things Gideon has a finance. With the cultural differences and both in relationships, can Gideon and Evanna move past their differences?
This book is the first I read of author Sara. The story is definitely unique – I have not read about someone who is Amish – I learned a lot! LOL… This was a fast read, cute, sweet, the banters are quite funny and the story flows well from beginning to the end. It shows that if you love someone, no matter the differences you can make it work against all odds. My only complaint is that I understand they were both torn with responsibility and loyalty toward family and their significant others – however they could have cut the tie a little sooner 🙂 Other than that, I loved it! This book is beautifully written, forbidden love, follow your heart and take risk … Love ain’t easy!!!
Highly recommended. I would read another book of Sara Zook.
I received this ARC from author in exchange for ann honest review. TY
