I am Atlas (Playing God Series) by Ella Emerson
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
3.5-4 stars

Powerful, wealthy, wildly handsome Atlas has it all: successful company, stunning penthouse, and all the women and fun he could want. But when he meets the brilliant, graceful and mesmerizing Gwen, he is thunderstruck and wants to go to great lengths to have her, even if it means breaking his own rules and baring his secret soul.
When his livelihood is threatened by a competing rival, he must prepare for a corporate battle. But, with Gwen at his side he knows he will not lose.
But, what if she isn’t who he thought she was? What if nothing is as it seems?
Will Atlas lose everything?
How far is one man willing to go for the woman he loves?
As described above, Atlas is the owner of one of the biggest military firms. He’s handsome, rich, cocky, and a total playboy…that is until he sees Gwen. He instantly falls for Gwen, but Gwen is holding back and he doesn’t understand why. At the same time, Atlas’ company is being threatened and he must find a way to save his company and win Gwen’s heart at the same time.

While this is a love story, there is quite a bit of mystery and action to the story. The plot really is brilliant. I’m going to try my best not to give any spoilers because the plot twist will blow you away. I was guessing the entire time and I never saw it coming. Just to see the plot unfold is probably worth reading this book.
I immediately wanted to read this book because I was drawn to the description of Atlas. I was craving the rich billionaire alpha male romance story…and how can I resist a guy name Atlas. It’s a hot name! Atlas is described as a powerful and handsome man and I really like that about the main character. I thought Gwen was a strong character, but I was frustrated with her in the book because I couldn’t understand her reservation with Atlas. She continually held back from Atlas and it was confusing me…that is until the end when all is revealed. So be patient with Gwen =). Also, the book was definitely STEAMY so if you are craving some hot scenes this book delivers.
While I found many positives in the book with the plot and steamy scenes, I was a little disappointed with Atlas. Atlas is supposed to be a cocky strong male character and he kind of turns into a pile of sappy goo as the book goes on. I understand succumbing to love, but what I initially found appealing about Atlas was lost a little bit. At times, I felt his thought process sounded a little bit like a woman’s mind. I can appreciate the insta-love and how it changes people, but I would have liked Atlas to keep some of that alpha male I saw in the beginning. Overall, it was a good read. This is my first Ella Emerson book and I will definitely be looking forward to her future work.
