Review: Fighting Solitude by Aly Martinez

Fighting Solitude (On The Ropes # 3) ~ 5 HOT Stars
“I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.
Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.
Even though I didn’t deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.
Fighting Solitude (On The Ropes # 3) ~ 5 HOT Stars
Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.
That was going to change.
I lost my first love, but I refused to lose my soulmate.
Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting to be the man she deserves.
Fighting the solitude of our pasts. Fighting for her”

“She entered my life during a brief period when all the stars had momentarily aligned.”

WHOA! WHOA! I just finished reading this hot piece of book and I can not get enough of the Page brothers. This book is no different from Fighting Silence and Fighting Shadows. Aly’s writing is brilliant and each of her stories is unique. She has a way with words that captivate and suck you in with the character’s journey. I feel like I was holding my breath the whole time and after the final sentence there was nothing left for me but to sag into my bed with relief and satisfaction.

“This doesn’t change. It’s you and me to the core. I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you. If it happens to you, it happens to me, remember. And this is definitely happening to us. Please don’t fight it.”

Fighting Solitude is about Quarry and Liv. Let me warn you though – love doesn’t come easy for them. It’s not all romantic walks in the park and roses – it’s emotional, heart wrenching and full of angst. It breaks my heart to see them fighting the battle against themselves and each other to find the peace and love for each other that they deserve. The prologue? Oh dear! I had tears in my eyes and I knew I would have to hang on for an emotional ride. Aly, you had me at the prologue girl!!! 🙂

I can’t spoil the story for you too much but you will find out that tragic strikes early on for Quarry. Mia is his girlfriend; Liv is his best childhood friend. Liv is also Mia’s best friend. The tragedy destroyed both Quarry and Liv so can they ever really be able to move on and find happiness? Or is the guilt and the demons too much to overcome? Let me ask you this? Do you think it is possible to love two people? Can one have a soulmate and a love of your life? It’s not what you think though – NOT A LOVE TRIANGLE. Aly’s characters are wicked – I already love Till and Flint. I really fell in love with Quarry too – he is all hot alpha but kind hearted and loyal to a fault, always has been since he was a kid. Liv is just fierce, a spitfire – she can hold her own. Their love story kind of has it all – laughter, tears, intense but in the end nothing but love and healing hearts.

“You, Quarry Page, are the embodiment of my greatest fear.”

I highly recommend this book guys! Actually, I just love all of Aly Martinez books from the On the Ropes series to Wrecked and Ruined series and also The Fall Up. If you have not read one of her books you are seriously missing out. Aly is obviously talented – her stories are real and sincere. Her characters (some are troubled) are loveable and endearing all the same. I can’t say enough of Aly’s brilliant writing – I fell in love with it. She won me over since I laid eyes on the first book Fighting Silence and I am totally hooked. Aly is unstoppable – I cannot wait to read her next installment.

** Every. Single. Day and more! **

I was blessed with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

PS: READ the dedication – it’s quite sweet!!!! Love!
